Is it a fun playthrough
power within is like the most OP mechanic in any game ever made by fromsoft
You can pretty much toss pyromancy into any physical focused build since it has no stat requirements. It's pretty fun
I hated that they made it a "regular" magic type in the later games, scaled with your stats. It was a great support magic for melee builds, afterwards it just became another casting build.
one of the many ways the sequels did not understand the original game.
I mean yes and no. DS1 will forever be my favorite, but I liked 2 and 3 as well, for different reasons.
The change I feel is mostly for balance. Since PvP only cared about your level pyromancies were freat for twinking. Also you didn't really have a way to gate how strong a pyromancer could be at any point of the game since the flame required souls and nothing else to upgrade.
yeah except of course that dark souls 2 pvp didn't care about levels but instead soul memory and the change from pyromancy to "just another school of magic" happened in dark souls 2, making the decision a completely nonsensical one
I like doing dex sword + pyromancy. Also, Laurentius is is one of the best NPCs.
My most difficult but rewarding playthrough was a base level starting gear sorcerer. I permitted myself to upgrade the starting gear, and use whatever rings or spells, but couldn't equip anything else. Maximizes the feeling of being a frail, scrappy trickster
If you like being overpowered, then yeah lol.
Pyromancy is not only very strong for straight damage, but also has strong support spells. Also requires no stats other than for slots.
My first playthrough was a fast roll, balder side sword and shield dex pyro run and I learned a lot. You don’t hit too hard though with your weapon, so be aware of that. It’s a very different experience to a great club pure strength glass cannon run.
