Garma and Char were just good friends from back in the naval academy. It's a very straight place where no men have had sex with other men. It's all about the tradition of being a warrior, just like the samurai of the old days.

Y'all ever see / remember that episode of Samurai Champloo where the Dutch guy is sneaking around with the gang trying to be gay in Japan because they were more accepting of homosexuality?

I remember laughing hysterically with friends about seeing "the first weeb".

It's been on my "half watched this when it was on TV, mean to watch it now" list for a minute.

My understanding of the cultural bit is that gay relationships are tolerated over there, but after you reach a certain age they expect you to enter a straight marriage and make children. Real Shinzo the-doohickey Abe hours.

Frankly, I find it rather refreshing that such a large international company is pushing against the puritanical reign of marriage to endorse living in sin.
