You may be on to something there: lots of stuff that'd be unacceptable on Earth for most people is suddenly an exciting bazinga adventure if it involves a vague promise of space travel.
Even working on Earth for SpaceX involves being underpaid, abused, and working in regulation-dodging unsafe conditions, but it's for T H E M I S S I O N so most of the workers seem to accept it.
