as funny as this is, it's kinda scary how insistent the ruling class is on building animosity between rural/suburban america and urban america. of course its all pretty blatantly racist, with the core message being "look what these n***** lovers are doing! a cop did his job and now they're mad that some subhuman trash died!" but the consequences are worse than the message itself. all it takes is a couple rural militiae out in the woods and mountains not accepting the results of the election to sabotage electrical grids and water sources to "stick it to those cheating Democrat anarchist cities" and you've got a complete breakdown of the American domestic economy. we joke about balkanisation but that's how its most likely to happen in modern America, not a bunch of DSA twerps picking up a gun for the first time.

on the phone the other day at work I talked to an old woman in rural Tennessee, and when i mentioned one of my jobs' important offices being in California she said "oh, California. I grew up there! it was such a nice place, its a shame what's happening". I concurred and mentioned that my friend in rural Washington is having a hard time breathing because of all the smoke. turns out this old lady didn't know about the wildfires, she was talking about the "cartels and communist cities." she then made some vague threat about what would happen if they "come around here" and i started desperately trying to change the subject. old white people are getting more and more comfortable taking their mask off and talking about how much they hate minorities, and how often they fantasise about killing them. there's such a taboo around open white nationalism that they are increasingly resorting to dogwhistles like "city folk" and "cartels" and "Antifas" but when shit hits the fan that mask will drop to the floor.

that being said, this is a pretty deliberate move to make poor people suffer because that is what crusty ham faced evangelicals and suburbanites want while giving it the pretty window dressing of going after "the anarchist cities"
