So much for the acceptance in the free market of discussions, huh
Jesus christ the emoji is comically huge on Lemmygrad. I love the emphasis that gives it though
this is why we got rid of downvotes - having to reply to express disagreement means we can dunk on the dumbasses with shit takes. there's no peanut gallery, only potential snacks to be toyed with, and eaten.
I think on other instances, it defaults to the actual image resolution instead of the scaled down emote size. Very funny :)
So you're telling me that is an absolute unit for you comrade?
this could honestly be a hilarious unintended callback to the start of Hexbear when we forked away from lemmy - for some reason, emojis used to resize/expand when you hovered over them, and the emoji for the hexbear logo was like 3000x3000
so when it wound up in one of our site taglines at random, it broke the whole page
I used to make death threats to people over the internet. Then I realized something: either your threat is empty and you're an all-bark-no-bite cringebaby, or you're actually in a position to kill them, in which case just kill them. Making threats only leaves a paper trail.
CPC alone has over 90 million members who these clowns would consider "tankies". Good luck messing with the PLA.
Probably thinks the U.S. military has that covered. It would be funny to watch their reaction to the pacific fleet getting owned before the retaliatory nukes fly.
You don't even have to go that far to find people they call tankies. Just the other day I had the immense privilege of witnessing a lib call an anarchist Mastodon instance tankie because they saw someone talk about killing all billionaires
The worst treat defenders are yet to come, so brace yourself for the incoming onslaught.
I love how I can immediately identify Hexbear users in threads on other instances by the emote spam. Totally understandable though, we do have the best emotes, the biggest emotes
I have to say, in a completely positive and awe-inspiring way, that UlyssesT is the absolute GOAT at it.
I've never seen such a strong sentence-to-emoji ratio, and they all completely fit.
collect em like pokemon and post em to the dunk tank so we can pile on the nerds.
Maybe you will run into some Star Citizens. That would be fun to watch.
Honestly just replace 'tankie' with 'person who doesn't help advance Western interests, primarily America,' and that'll cover all their bases.
totally normal discourse. arguing against war or for the end of slavery is bad though remember
I thought he was from world, they seem to be slightly better at moderating on lemmee.
Nevermind, I looked from Lemmygrad and he was banned from here. He is not banned on lemmee.
That’s Hexbear’s countdown emote. You can always copy that post’s source to use it here though
I think you can report private messages too. Maybe lemm.ee admin decides to do something about it.
Yeah I tried but it seems to infinitely load. Perhaps Lemmy acting strange over Tor.
You can check in the network tab in dev tools whether the resulting request from clicking the report button succeeda (if tor browser allows it). The UI is not good at showing errors sometimes.
Seems to result in a 400 bad request. Although the 400 URL seems to be POST https://lemmygrad.ml/api/v3/private_message/report
The report went through. I can see it. You are getting 400 probably because a report from you has already been accepted.
big talk from a bugman who wont last 2 days without running water and his funko pop collection
Not op, and I agree, but wanted to clarify what I think is that commenters thoughts and why they might have said what they said.
The point is that they don't know what it's like to not have running water, and they just can't mentally put themselves in the position of someone who doesn't have it, making it hard to emphasize and thus, fight for the rights of those people, instead of, for example, caring about if they have a new car every 3 years (or funko pops as the deprogram guys joke about).
the bugmen are cool people. this comparison is slandering their good name.
So do these people go seeking out communist users specifically to harass them? Or was this the result of a debate directly with them?
I didn't have a debate with them. No idea from where they found me. Probably got annoyed at one of my comments.
Sorry, I was walking drunk through the lib factory wearing a wallet chain and now some of the new ones are a little more scratched than usual.
It's funny how I don't agree with Tankies, but I don't wish them any harm. And then there are right-wingers…
I've seen it defined as apologists for dictatorships. This is the version that I was using when I made the comment.
I wonder if I would have responded this way if I had found out about Lemmy a few months earlier…
Maybe read the Communist Manifesto if you haven’t read it yet — it’s not that long :)
I feel like the manifesto isn't the best starting point, I've heard "socialism utopian and scientific" is but idk.
state and rev is such a short and readable summary of why liberal reform is always doomed that I just recommend that.
I need to get around to reading that myself to be completely honest.
it's worth it. it reads like a compiled twitter dunk thread so it's very approachable.
Manifesto is an easy read, but probably not the best introduction. There was a good beginner reading list posted around here recently, I agree with their recommendation of Harman's "How Marxism Works" pamphlet. Super fast read, and can really help capture people's attention to read something a bit longer form.
Don't always agree with a lot of Harman, but he gives a really easy to understand overview.
