This seems kind of disappointing.
I suspect that the theoretical understanding of racial capital and settler-colonialism was still in its infancy, and so communists of the time fundamentally misunderstood the Zionist project. It wouldn't be until later theoretical contributions from the African struggle against French colonialism that communists could reach a scientific understanding of Zionism.
