"I say it all the time folks, Hexbear has the most beautiful posters! Makes the other instances look like losers! They come up to me and say "Mr. President, how can we harness their posting power?" and I tell them, you can't!"
Can someone explain what the hell this instance is and why everyone cares? The whole conversation on both sides is so up its own ass that i have no context.
this is revisionism, we started as a Citations Needed podcast subreddit

@VolcelPolice@hexbear.net tried to fill the void. now that we're federating, it might be time to bring it back.
we are a left unity instance. mostly Marxists and a good amount of anarchists. we call socdems what they are— the moderate wing of fascism. ppl hate us bc they are reactionaries
This is a liberal anarcho-bidenist Subreddit created to correct the record on Trump and support the National DNC, if you're not voting Biden then you ain't black Jack
This is where the r/chapotraphouse posters came when it was banned. Prior to Reddit's API changes a couple months ago, it was the most active instance by far, which is why we have 3.6 million comments.
It's a website for chubby, hairy, gay witches. Hex bears if you will.
/ Serious head for a second.
Hexbear sprang from the banned r/chapotraphouse Reddit page, which had a reputation for responding to reactionaries trying to debate their views with mockery.
This made it a boogeyman on Reddit, where the overwhelming majority of users are the kinds of people who take umbrage at being told they're incorrect and/or uninformed on any subject.
Reddit exodus brought those users to Lemmy. Meanwhile, a subset of Hexbear users are nostalgic of what they see as the glory days of r/chapotraphouse and see federation as a chance to do that sort of stuff again.
It's a socialist instance that was popular on reddit before we got banned there for repeatedly saying slave owners should be killed and John Brown did nothing wrong (he didn't).
It's also by far the funniest instance.
until recently, we weren't federated, so we're used to primarily talking to each other. this has been an active community for 3 years.
That was with people spamming about getting it up to 1000 to be fair
we just love posting folks, what can we say, we're going to post so much that you'll get tired of seeing posts, just wait and see.
