My mom blames Trump for everything and is holding out hope that once he gets out of office in November everything will get better, my dad who was always right wing to some degree is going increasingly further right, angry about BLM, covid regulations, ranting about how "the left has gone insane." I can't and don't talk to him anymore. Many of my friends were moving left once the protests started, but now they're all grillpilled and have completely checked out. At least a couple of them actually did move left and will listen to my ranting, except I don't think they'd actually call themselves leftists, but at least they're sympathetic. But also a bunch of friends have gone full reactionary because they haven't been able to go to the gym in months.

Honestly though except for my dad who's completely lost touch with reality, most people I know are pretty much that meme with the dog sitting in a house on fire saying "this is fine."

Yeah that's what I do with my mom, she's got enough on her plate right now anyway without me yelling about possible collapse. but honestly I have no idea how to talk to people anymore without turning into a crank anymore. I care about these people and I want them to be able to process current events, but I don't know how to do it without talking completely over their heads or risk making them feel more hopeless and powerless than they already do.
