There are an infinite number of universes where Trump got domed and we live in the only one where the bullet grazed his ear
Looks to me like the path in the image is heading just below his earlobe, so it wasn't the bullet that hit him in the top of his ear. There's no way he jerked his head up by more than the height of his ear in the time between it hitting him and the photo being taken.
At most it shows one of the multiple shots was very close to hitting him, if it's real. So the hit could still be shrapnel/glass from that shot or another

TMZ reported, and apparently stands by it, that it was something like a shard of glass. I believe their source was US Secret Service themselves.
Trump said twice now (at least) that a bullet did nick his ear. There's also a photo of the bullet (which people are saying is legit, but I don't fully believe that, but whatever) apparently on a path straight to his head right before he moves.
I assume the FBI will eventually release a full recreation of the events with the trajectory of the bullet. That'll be the most reliable source.

Here's the TMZ comment and statement from Secret Service. They haven't taken it back or updated it with a correction. Only stated that Trump claims it hit his ear.

In a way I feel bad for them, the biggest reason that evangelicals are unreachable is because of how consistently the media and the state piss in their mouth and tell them it's Gatorade. Of course they do that to everyone, but evangelicals have their own alternate reality they can retreat into where they can feel a sense of control, so why would they ever try looking at things from outside that perspective? I suspect secret service has to say it was Glass/protective shield did it's job regardless of the truth, so as not to admit flaw in their security apparatus, whereas trump of course has to claim it was a bullet for obvious coolness factor reasons

My brother said the teleprompter was on the other side of his head, but I think there was probably a second one out of frame because it's common to have two.
