    I love how the design has that generic weathered look to it they put on every t-shirt now, making it look like an ancient advertisement you would find as environmental storytelling in a post-apocalyptic game

      It's to cover up the fact that the low quality printing will look like that within a month anyway, and it's less noticeable if it's by design.

      might just be an old shirt. Certain types of screen printing don't hold up well to multiple washes.

    So it's an advertisement for a symbolic action that has no real-world impact, worn primarily to signal group membership rather than to motivate people to take that action, and it is derived from an advertisement for a completely unrelated product.
