Having a dedicated space to this would be nice. Currently if you want DIY resources you need to search for it and find the old threads, like the resource thread by u/quartz242, or the thread I made. Discussion around DIY is very scattered, rarely in posts, and some in random threads. Having all of it contained in one place would be better.

Wouldnt it be better to just have a post indexing all of them and have it linked on c/traa sidebar? I imagine there wouldnt be enough activity to justify a separate comm

I think the lack of this space is what makes it seem like there's a lack of activity. There are plenty of uses for a place to discuss hormones/surgeries/etc. especially now that we're federated. I've seen cis women ask on the reddit equivalent of this because they also deal with menopause etc. and cis men lurk because the sites that sell hormones would also sell their PEDs or whatever, not that either of these are the intended/encouraged usage, but just to give you an idea of its versatility.

of course it's also a good backup for the subreddit when that gets nuked. Hexbear appearing on the google results page for trans diy would be funny.

Big agree. If not here, maybe in one of the communities we are federated with. Going DIY often involves learning how to use crypto, trusting unregulated sources, and shipping something illegally through the mail, and I'm not so sure that kinda stuff would be a good fit in our existing trans communities (and I wouldn't judge anyone who gets uncomfortable from the topic).

Even if it just acts as a copy of the subreddit, id much rather access that information here than there.
