    Lol this would cover 100 years of operating expenses for matapacos.dog. I hope they do it though. I'd love to see the struggle which breaks out between the flagship instances, the radical instances, and the fucking White House instance. They would probably defed instances like ours, but it would be self-defeating for them to defed instances like mastodon.social. It would be a fresh stream to drop pigpoopballs in the replies. And then you have third-party moderation decisions. Admins suspending users because they were mean to the fucking (vice) President of the US, and pushback against them. Lots of potential for juicy drama.

    The wording here is funny though. Like, they're going to hand the money over whether or not they set up this infrastructure. Would also be funny if she just pockets it and does nothing.

      An official white house instance would not legally be able to defed instances, going from the ruling set about officials being able to block you.

      The court found that blocking someone from following an official constitutes a government action that could give rise to a constitutional claim under the Constitution's First Amendment

      So it's open season if they do
