Among the materials are stocks of fuel, including crude oil and natural gas, valuable manufacturing metals like copper, iron ore and cobalt, and in particular precious metals like gold, said Newsweek.

Woah a country stockpiling oil reserves, what an absolutely unprecedented and unnerving development.

If only there were an example of a historical event where global supply systems were disrupted, a situation that would have been smoothed out by this kind of stockpiling of strategic resources.

It's crazy that super simple stuff requires a nation to be communist. It's like if ever a political philosophy seeks to centralize wealth then it invariably becomes this autophagic black hole that produces leaders that fucking suck. Directly making life a little better for people instead of worse takes this Herculean effort. You have to fend off the military might of a world spanning global hegemony with enough nuclear payloads to wipe out every city center on Earth in order to build houses for the purpose of letting people live in them.

"I want to make sure we have enough resources in case something bad happens."

The actual article is a fair bit more sinister than the idea that westerners don't know how to plan for the future (which is still pretty funny).

It basically specilates that China is stockpiling resources to prepare for war and sanctions from the us. If this is true, it is fairly obvious that this is only a natural reaction to the recent belligerent turn of the Americans and their vassals.

Your timing in the early parts of the game is hella important, if you are floating too many resources, you're never going to get a proper ling rush out in time.

Unrelated but Xi always looks like such a boss. Even on lib central reddit I was reading random discussion about how photogenic the fuy always looks. He always seems to be in such equilibrium
