Idk wtf ever happened to all my toys, just one day I didn't have any. My parents basically incinerated anything i had so I have basically nothing left of my childhood than my memories.

Kilograms of plastic toys I'd love to post here lol. I miss my gundams and transformers. The transformers toys were PEAK

I had the exact same Victory Gundam Mk 2 back when I was first into Gundam as a teen lol. I also had like a million of the action figures from the UC and G Gundam shows. I think my mom gave them away to some poor Burmese refugee kids during the period when Gundam SEED was so bad it made me quit watching anime for like 15 years lol

Gundam seed is bad? Is this a common view? Im a gigantic anime fan (but i don't do giant robots) and i don't know much about the Gundam subset. Is seed dramatically different than other gundam series? Why do you hate it?

It's a pretty common view, especially among the kind of Gundam fandom you would find around places like this. It is super popular, though, and sells a lot of toys in Japan.

It's just not written nearly as well as many of the other series. It's an alternate universe that has a similar setup to the original show, but it doesn't do anything particularly interesting with the scenario or characters. The main character, Kira Yamato, is that specific kind of special boy who always can solve the problem with no issue. That, and it's one of the early digipaint shows from the 2000s that just don't look great.

(but i don't do giant robots)

Any particular reason for this? I generally recommend the original Mobile Suit Gundam or Turn A Gundam for people who want to dip their toe into it. Both shows have pretty compelling character dramas that even people who aren't into the giant robot angle can enjoy.

If you were going to watch only one Gundam show (or only one mecha show in general), I'd make it Turn A Gundam. It's probably my favorite anime hands down (and is a standalone series - you don't really need to see other Gundams unless you like recognizing robots from other shows).

Hmm, well I've never evaluated my avoidance. Let's see...I have watched a couple anime that had them in it and something about them just bugs me. Maybe i just don't like war stories in general, which the mecha genre is a subset of generally. But i also tried Fullmetal Panic because I'm a romance fan and i bounced off hard.

If you forced me to think on it further? it's probably that i just don't think giant robots are cool (I know, i know, sacrilege haha). It probably sounds crazy that a giant kickass robot doesn't add anything exciting to the table for me, but they just... dont?

I tried! I don't know if i answered you though.

Nah, that's valid. I took interest in Star Wars at an early age, so space wars just work for me I guess shrug-outta-hecks

I'd double down on the Turn A Gundam recommendation if you find yourself looking to try something outside what you usually watch! It's still a war story, but it does things in a pretty unique way.

Little known fact, both Gs in G Gundam stand for "gay".
