In the middle of the Marinefort battle and I've always hated this loser and now every episode he just whines about something

Coby is a great character because he is completely and utterly incapable of changing the system from the inside, even though that's his whole schtick. Coby is the ultimate lib and it's great to see him fail repeatedly at ever accomplishing anything that matters. Only the anarchists succeed at anything and its important to have a character who is on the inside of the system to show how much of a failure that route is.

Nice perspective! Libs are gonna lib and eventually fail, hoping he gets an anarcho punch after doing at least something small to improve the world.

Along with the Anarchists (or direct-action anti-imperialists as I might call them), I also believe in the protracted people's war of the ML(M)'s, the Revolutionary army, who are for now only slowly moving in the background but will eventually be essential in toppling the world gov (after much internal discussion within the party?)

Additionally, the off system burgeois represented in Cross Guild is also interesting, imagine in our world if there was a bounty for catching state-sponsored war criminals 🤔

If Cross Guild was real Captain Buggy would have my uncritical support

      If anything, it gets worse!

      spoiler

"Yes, I just learned that the WG was keeping the rising sea levels that will destroy everything secret from the world, but instead of reflecting on that info, I'll calcify my belief in the marines and vow to betray my friend."

One of the top arcs of the series. Wano is also a top arc. The current arc that is about to be finished is also insane and is changing everything.

I also warn you, the anime becomes unbearably slow due to the fact they have to stretch out so much with it being weekly. I wound up switching to the manga and it changed the game for me. I know some people just do One Pace, or just watch it speed up.

Yeah I watched Whole Cake and Wano at 1.5x speed and found it pretty pleasant. I would slow down for some of the important bits but generally speaking I didn't feel like I missed much. Also, the Wano shamisen theme at 1.5x speed fucking slaps

The marines who are supposed to be sympathetic (Koby and Garp mostly but there are some others) are all such complete rubes it makes it impossible to take them seriously. How are you going to have worse political instincts than Luffy, the world's dumbest man?

You also have Smoker (and Tashigi by proxy,) Kuzan, and Issho; they have better political instincts than Koby and Garp at any rate.

I would say issho definitely does. He took a shot at dragging doffy and it paid off. Then later he kind of gets into a fight with the nazi guy, cause fujitora let slaves escape.

Garp on the other hand has these instincts but he is the most cynical guy.

Eh his scene at marineford was nice. But yeah he is sort of true believer guy in the story. Even now in current arc he still thinks he is going to make a change with the navy.

Albeit working under garp he never gleans what garp despises. He also is the end of history person apart from kaido. I won't elaborate.
