I don’t know, I feel like the “pedos get priority target” in prison is a social myth, or at least exaggerated because you rarely hear any followups when these people get sentenced.

It is true, I've been to prison lol. The pedos get kept on a separate wing to avoid them getting beaten up/attacked. It's not hard to verify this if you just speak to any ex (or current) prisoner. If they didn't segregate pedos I'm sure you'd see much more of it

yup even in county jail, unless your county is tiny, there's a dedicated section for pedos (and presumably cops)

I dont think a separate section for cops is common given how rare it is for cops to go to prison tbh. Not sure what they do with cops honestly, they obviously can't be kept in gen pop (much as I'd like them to be), but given that there's probably no other cops in the prison, where could they safely be except for the seg unit?

probably decreases the safety of the other people there tbh

the county I did time in just had a dedicated pod for anyone at-risk of violence, it wasn't pedo-specific.

Yes and no. Depends on the jail and depends on the staff there. Believe it or not; there's a lot that goes into abusing people and treating them like cattle. A lot of regulations you have to follow to prevent it from becoming a extermination camp instead of a license plate concentration camp.

Usually those types get in as best as they can with staff in order to distance themselves from gen pop. A dude who did things to a 17 year old isn't gonna get attacked unlike 16- either. Same idea with an officer and a "dirty one" that certain people know. Sometimes staff will take precautions to protect these types of prisoners; cop or pedophile and sometimes they won't. To make an example of the pedophile in vigilante justice (sometimes they just tell other inmates that they're pedos even if they're not) or will let them in gen to prove a point about officers over-excercising their already near-boundless power.

Cops will defend each other until they're sure a person is cooked. Then it's like ticks on a dead deer; all of them will scurry away. Whoever actually pushed this case in court will likely be harassed for the duration they live in the area.
