In Hawaii the shirts locals wear are called aloha shirts any way and are much more stylish than tacky tourist Hawaiian shirts. But mostly businessmen wear them anyway. They’re like a replacement for a collared shirt and tie. Cuz it’s warm and there’s not AC everywhere because there’s a nice breeze usually cuz it’s paradise.
tbh i like the tacky shirts even though they aren’t hawaiian natively. call it bad taste im ok with that lol I wish i had another term so I dont have to lump in actual hawaiian people with it

Yeah they’re cool as their own thing and as fashion
