Yeah 4chan sucks but back in highschool/college I used to browse /mu/ a lot and download music recs and make those collages with favorite albums, etc. It was a very chill vibe, and while I wasn't very political at all back then (read: lib) I always got the impression it was just a bunch of music nerds thumbing through threads looking for cool and obscure stuff. Lots of memes about ITAOTS and MBDTF etc.

I just found chapo.chat but I'm wondering if anyone else here lurked on that board?

Like most boards of 4chan it really was a marginally nicer place before /pol/ grew too large and spread to all the others. I still like a lot of classic /mu/core stuff that I learned about from there though.

I think I have 100+ gigs of music from that board, mostly 90s emo and shoegaze stuff.

      haha we're pretty similar

I still like to look at websites like rateyourmusic.com, its good for the "music exploration" part but doesn't have the same community vibe, imo. But I'm not a frequent user there.

4chan in the late 00's/early 10's, when every second link on there was a screamer was good, but then Atomwaffen found out about it.

My favorite thing about /mu/ is that they truly thought that fun. was the next big GOAT band for YEARS.
