SNW, LD, Prodigy(?) and...? I must know, I've been disconnected from trek for a while now.

Once The Orville shed "Family Guy in space" gimmicks a few episodes in, it got good enough to be considered Trek.

Oh yea, I did watch a couple seasons and was surprised by how decent it was. Still has a few MacFarlane-isms but it's got the spirit. The Moclan child arc was actually really impressive aside from a couple lib bits.

The Moclan child arc in season 3 is some of the best Trek of all time tbh

          It's so worth sticking around.

          Unlike a lot of P R E S T I G E T V garbage, it actually ends in a satisfying way too.

That actor was amazing, including in his human-imitation moments and his painfully brief emotional experience. The "make Claire break up with him" slob attempt was one of the funniest moments of the show.

Speaking of Moclans... my wife was always bothered by this moment but I can't stop cracking a sicko smile about it.

The Orville gets a lot of mileage out of the Union's medical science being even more advanced than the Federation's. Like the early episode where Isaac cut Gordon's leg off as part of a prank war and the easy answer was to just grow him a new one which took a day or two.

All the wacky Moclan traditions were very fun except for the ones that were extremely not fun.

The life support system was by and large in the ship's interior walls; it was a sort of vegetation construct everywhere.

That's super cool biotech and I loved that bit of background lore.

The four good current era Trek series, in descending order of preference:

            1: Lower Decks

            2: The Orville

            3: Prodigy

            4: Strange New Worlds

Including the Orville in that list was a plot twist... one I don't disagree with. picard-excited

I actually agree with your list even though I haven't seen much Prodigy yet.

btw any thoughts about Andromeda? I watched a few eps of S1, seemed all right, heard it goes downhill after S1 though

I haven't seen any Andromeda for like decades and it's all a blur for me, though Babylon 5 was impressive.

It's almost like Lower Decks: The Movie put through an early season Orville filter to me.

Orville is still better, but still.
