Some exciting BRICS news.
Snip:
Palestine’s ambassador in Moscow, Abdel Hafeez Nofal, said on 26 August that Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas had received an invitation from President Vladimir Putin to attend the upcoming BRICS summit.
“After our first participation in the BRICS summit, we will send a request to join this association,” Nofal revealed.
Note, this year's BRICS summit will be held in Kazan, the capital city of the Russian Federation's Republic of Tatarstan.

I wanna be more optimistic, but isn't the PA largely controlled or influenced by Israel?
PA has reconciled with Hamas. Israel finally went too far for the compradores I guess.
Unfortunately, to a large extent, it is. However, joining the BRICS would basically mean the BRICS recognizing the existence of a Palestinian state. That would definitely represent a big diplomatic defeat for Tel Aviv.
I mean all the individual member states already recognise Palestine right?
yes, but they signed some type of unity agreement with hamas during the beijing summit last month. i'm not sure what the actual implications of this are, but it feels significant?
My bad. I somehow missed this. It might be the gray haze so much of this shit has put me into.
