I would recommend picking up this month's issue of the Monthly Review, and listening to what our comrades in China have to say about what's going on over there, and the ongoing relationship between their country and the United States. Consider subscribing as well, they have decent content regularly that isn't sensational, so it doesn't do so well on social media circles.
