After spending a couple days interacting with them, I have come to agree with the common sentiment hexbear already had that it's probably not worth trying to persuade a small number of steadfast neoliberals among those of us with limited patience, which includes myself.

If I'm a wimp and you still want to go buck wild, of course.

But the suggestion I got that .ee would probably be a better staging ground is at this point taken to heart. Since we are federated with them, I think the thing to do is make (appropriate, non-hostile) posts in .ee communities where the purpose of the comm adequately fits with topics that it would be useful to discuss.

As with my last post, which was misbegotten, it's just a thought I had

In the first draft of the post, I was going through comms and picking out potentially relevant ones before deciding it was superfluous and also there were too many comms. They've got lots of comms for news and issues centering on various parts of the world, a dedicated "Israeli crimes" comm in addition to their Palestine comm. "Collapse" had potential to go either way, which is fitting.

Anyway, it's not too hard to search them if there's anything specific that you're looking for: https://lemm.ee/communities

Damn you make .ee sound kinda rad.

They've got some cool ones but also a Conservative and a Neoliberal comm. It's a severely mixed bag in the style of old Reddit. They do have cool comms though.

Their neoliberal comm is a ghost town. The last post was a year ago, there's only one page of posts, and all the posts are by the comm's mod. Very few comments too.

Good point. I didn't investigate their comms very closely after a while, but I probably should have looked before I mentioned it like it was a real thing. I think I just assumed because there's a bit more activity on Conservative.

I think instead of focusing in interacting with users from an specific instance, we should instead focus on popular/active comms from other instances like maybe global news from lemmyzip, science memes from mander or the many movie/tv comms from ee
