I work at a restaurant, and we can talk about the utter bullshit a tip system is, but with DoorDash, we don’t see any tips from those orders. So now, in a time when hours are slashed and staff is stretched thin, a rise in DoorDash orders means extra work with no real compensation for it outside of minimum wage.
You know, I used to find it a bit sleazy that a lot of restaurants would calculate the tip based on the total + tax, rather than just the total (which is how it's supposed to be done)
A bit sleazy, but it's still just pennies. With Doordash, Grubhub, etc I've seen all sorts of nonsense charges for like $3 each. You order a $15 meal and it comes out to $25. It's actual trash and the owners should all be rounded up and ((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((hugged)))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))))
