      At the end of the day, though, it shouldn't be up to a private company to keep up a country's rail system.

        dont you understand? it would be COMMUNISM not to make everyone drive in their metal box whose safety, comfort, and efficiency are entirely dependent on how much you can pay and which must be a core part of your consumer identity. Also, if you want, you can buy a metal box that is big and heavy enough to kill anyone and anything you hit with it in a collision.

    I think if Sir Elon buys Amtrak and renames it to Amdoge, give each passenger their own personal carriage to control, and make the speed limit be either 69 MPH or 420 MPH, then it would generate a profit and more people would want to ride it
