: a serious drama typically describing a conflict between the protagonist and a superior force (such as destiny) and having a sorrowful or disastrous conclusion that elicits pity or terror
Ocean pressure is a superior force, so it's not inaccurate.
being eaten by lions would be terrifying too but you dont see me being terrified cuz im not about to go jump in the enclosure. Just like im not an idiot billionaire climbing into an amateur submarine.
Yes but watching someone get mauled to death by a tiger would elicit a feeling of terror and could lead to things like nightmares about it happening to you.
If a homeless person dies on the street from exposure in winter - CNN would not call that a tragedy. In fact if that happened to 3 or 4 people in the same city on the same day - CNN still wouldn't call it a tragedy. Why? Such things happen and CNN and the MSM in general ignore it. The public doesn't even learn the names of the dead.
But some obscenely rich idiots go down to oppressive ocean depths in a badly tested tin can and the MSM says it's a tragedy. Why? Ocean pressure is not the reason.
Tragedy, noun

It's not sorrowful., Could be disastrous so I'll give it that. It neither elicits pity nor terror though.
You could only make a disaster/comedy about it.
Thinking of being inside an imploding submarine fills me with plenty of terror but idk what your nightmares are like I guess

You're massively overthinking an obvious joke
