Those in power don't care about the innocents they kill, the genocide their system causes, the suffering, the bigotry, the inequality.
They are simple-minded. To them, the world is a game of kill or be killed, and they won. They don't care or care to understand that their "winning" will kill them too eventually. They live in a fantasy world where the only rule is take until you die. They will use every tool that the system rigged to favour them has given them. You cannot shame them into submission. To them, if they submit they die and It's you or them. Don't try to convince them otherwise, to them your words are a trick to win and become just as sick as they are.
Take, consume until it's all gone, move on, take, consume, move, take, consume, move.
The only thing they know how to do is take a beautiful creation and turn it into death.
The worst part is that they don't want to be any better.
They are broken human beings that eat their own children, their own species, a cancer, and if we let them they won't stop until the species is dead. Until everything is dead and there is nothing left to kill.
So there's a comic book called Punisher: The End
The Punisher is finally locked up, Frank Castle killed the men who murdered his family and ended up in Maximum Security for it
The people of New York are happy until it's revealed that the US declared war on China, the birds are in the air and there are about 20 minutes before everything is scoured from the face of the Earth
The guards start killing the inmates, the prison is a shelter and they want all the supplies for themselves
They make it to Frank
They don't make it back
Five years later, Frank claws himself and the other survivor out of the prison. The food and water are running out and the only options are starve or make a play for it
They trudge along, the world still burning with invisible flame, killing them slowly as they push onwards
Finally, they find what they were looking for
A shelter, packed to the gills with advanced technology and more than enough supplies to live comfortably
This is where the rich and powerful hunkered down before the world ended, they knew what was going to happen and they didn't care
They thought they had enough to withstand any contingency
They never counted on The Punisher
Half dead from radiation sickness, his purpose still crystal clear
He slaughters them to a man, even as they plead and beg
"We're humanity's last chance!" they cry
But Frank knows, humanity is long dead, turned to ash and vapor
They don't deserve to live
He emerges from the bunker, the last living human
It's a bright sunny day in New York City, his family is waiting in Central Park.
If he hurries, maybe he'll get there in time to join them
If we can't save the world, we can at least avenge it
That's a role reserved for humans, not capitalists.
