I get that the huge emojis can be annoying, but we haven't even been in that many threads outside here have we?

      side-eye-1 side-eye-2

I think you've vastly underestimated our posting power...

I think the wider fediverse is also significantly less active than us. What to us is a few threads is to them a bunch of their most active threads.

This is probably it. When I switch from Local to All, I still see primarily Hexbear posts and a few inactive posts from other instances (unless it's about Hexbear, and then its full of us).

Well, there's also a ton of stuff we don't see because it's posted to instances we are not federated with. When I look at Lemmy through the jerboa app (without sign-in) HB posts are nowhere near the top of the active/all sort. I see lots of threads with a much higher than the HB average vote count, and the posts at the top have outsized comment sections (which is usually where we show up) but there's just oodles of shit out there you won't even see logged in through HB.

I think we have 3x the number of posts of the next most active instance.

Others have pointed out that removing the downbear and encouraging discussions and shitposting means we usually say something instead of downvoting and moving on, which adds to our disproportionate onlineness.

        which is why communism-will-win

these concern trolling liberals alienate themselves from their non-worldnews-doomscrolling userbase who only have pleasant interactions with hexbear users in normal communities, and longtime Lemmy users who had been buried by the reddit exodus appreciate the balance we've brought back to those threads that do get political

we've seen it where midwest.social and lemmy.ca users have migrated after they defed with us, and it's because of this. the only people left on these instances are unhinged liberals

Yeah, that's my impression as well, we've made a lot of comments on certain posts, but it's not like we've been turning up all over the place constantly
