    There's this weird psychological paradox where by giving people too many choices, it actually makes them less happy and satisfied overall.

    If you have too many options, there's a nagging fear of missing out by "choosing incorrectly".

    (Forgot where I read it but I swear that it's a real scientific study.)

      Choice overload is the term you're thinking of! It's why the brag that capitalism making a million of the same product with different packaging is a very confusing to be proud of

      Remember when some Turning Point USA dork went to Cuba and visited a grocery store, clearly expecting the shelves to be empty, and when they weren't he made up some dumb bullshit about how it's oppressive that there was only one brand of canned tomatoes?
