I've lived in a big city for years now. Never seen anybody get mugged, or shot, or carjacked, despite doing activist work that often has me visiting poor minority neighborhoods.
The only time I ever really felt uneasy was when I had to walk alone at night through a neighborhood where all the businesses had bars on the windows. Worst thing that happened was a couple of people asking me for money, and they didn't give me any shit when I said I didn't carry cash.
But any time I visit the small town where I grew up there's always someone or another acting like I came back from a fucking warzone lmao
It's funny how "Try That In A Small Town" is such a desperate attempt at macho tough guy posturing but what it really says about its fans is that they're terrified of the world

IDoesn't he live in Nashville? And he grew up in Macom, population 100k when he was born, 250k when he left.
Also, a small town is the only place where I have ever seen people openly disrespect the police
That "rugged individualism" goes in every direction out there
I don't remember if it was on here, but I've seen someone say that whole song is ironic because small towns are the easiest place to get away with crimes since nowadays they're mostly populated by libertarians who don't give a fuck about anyone else to the point that they won't report a crime they witness no matter how bad

In a lot of rural areas there are barely even cops to go to, just the sheriff department which is just a make-work job for the worst uncle in the county

Come into my highly defensible kill zone with 2500 of my mates and say that!
