Imagine a AAA game had the balls to have an openly trans protagonist. That would be pretty funny I think.
They could even pull a Metroid, just have a character casually mention it at the end of the game, get the Gamers to seethe about their betrayal, get a controversy going after the game's hype cycle is over, which is a little evil, which means they would actually do it.
One of your companions in dragon age inquisition is actually trans. You only find out if you talk him a bunch but if your not talking to your companions you're missing huge chunks of the game anyway.
