Male spiders spunk once upon reaching adulthood and then spend the rest of their existence trying to fist a female spider with their fistfuls of jizz

As a owner of a male tarantula, I can assure you they don't only "spunk once". The bastard was building a sperm web every second day at one point.

Makes infinitely more sense, sperm doesn't keep forever. I'm glad our spider comrades get to keep enjoying cumming

I keep tarantulas but I've never had an adult male one which I'm glad about- watching the poor little guy drumming in his terrarium trying to lure a mate while his clock slowly but surely runs out would probably be too heartbreaking 😥

Yeah I saved him from the local pet store (literally all the advice they gave about raising this species of tarantula was wrong, he probably would've died under their care), no one knew what sex he was at the time because he was seriously tiny, but yeah he just does his own thing now and is living very long for a mature male.

Which is why I'm so surprised the pet store I got him from gave me all the wrong advice basically, like it's one of the easiest pets to look after

Yes you literally make sure the water dish has water in it, it gets a cricket once or twice a week, clean the terrarium every 6 to 12 months and make sure the temperature is comfortable (no specifics there, so long as it's not freezing or a heatwave it's fine) and that's it. Literally the easiest thing to look after. Yet the pet store wanted me to put a moss bedding in the enclosure and keep it hot and really humid (constantly spraying water, heating pad) for some reason, like wtf
