The sidebar pic showing Xi Jinping as a yellow bear is strange too. I know the meme started in China, but surely goat realizes that most people on lemmy have no idea where that meme came from? Lemmy users are going to log on and see a predominantly white forum portraying Xi Jinping as a yellow bear for some reason. Context matters, doesn't it? In China, there's no risk the image will seem racist, but can you imagine posting that image on sh.itjust.works? Fuck. Not something I would ever do. Wasn't there even a thread pointing this out to goat a long time ago, and yet the image is still there?
