It doesn't matter how damaged people have become, how many long covid victims people know, how much impairment persists and gets worse infection by infection.
Dying is all that matters to the ruling class, and even then, just barely.
I remember feeling like a naive child when I said what I felt was wrong. Now that I'm older, I know that my feelings were right on the money.
Being a Cassandra fucking sucks. Even the moments are bittersweet at best.
I feel like Covid broke the narrative that if the shit really hit the fan, Western civilization could mobilize to save itself. We pulled together in WWII and if there was a big enough threat, we'd do it again.
We couldn't even figure out "wear a freaking mask and buffer the economy enough that sick people don't have to shamble through their shifts at TGI Friday's splattering disease on everyone else."
If we had a new Hitler rise, the debates wouldn't be about alliances or genocide, it would be how dare we neglect the impact on GM's stock price for even considering having to repurpose the Chevrolet Childcrusher assembly lines to make bombers instead, and how unfree it makes us to hang blackout curtains so the drones can't identify occupied buildings.

On Hexbear of all places, we had a former power posting plague rat that had an infamous New Years post that concern trolled everyone on the site with a "I love you, but" passive-aggressive format, declaring that everyone needed to go out during the pandemic and "kiss a stranger" for the sake of normalcy and to stop "embarrassing leftism." He and a swarm of mysterious low-to-no-post-history alts started bullying what they called "shut-ins" for days afterward. Some of the bulled people quit the site and never returned.
Treatbrain is a ruinous, even terminal condition. It disgusts me to my core, and I hate that particular piece of shit that posted that "love you all, but" thread to this day.
I feel like Covid broke the narrative that if the shit really hit the fan, Western civilization could mobilize to save itself.
It didn't because most people deny that COVID is an ongoing pandemic or that it's still important
The hivemind says and that's all that matters for the cattle--it's the one thing that both cattle pens can agree on
I thank Lenin everyday I don't have any noticeable chronic COVID symptoms after having it 3 times
what were your symptoms those 3 times? and how long did it last?
The first time wasn't actually too bad it was like a head cold with mild fever, maybe 3 or 4 days.
The last two have been extreme fever, aches, etc and the worst sore throats I have had in my life. Probably 5 days of the bad fever, 7 or 8 of the other symptoms.
I hope I'll live long enough to read political theory written in Hexbear-isms, where words like "treat flow", "treatbrain" and "bazingas" are used unironically.
I genuinely love that the word "bazinga" got such an upsurge in usage the day UlyssesT returned. I barely saw it before, but as soon as he started posting again I saw a lot of others use it as well.

I use them unironically.
Can't be a member of the reserve army of labour undercutting wages and providing a scapegoat if you're completely dead.
Of course, they always have more reserves.
It's analogous to how BLM only pops off in the wake of particularly brutal police murders, while the differential treatment goes on every hour of every day.
