Due to multiple factors, such as unaddressed ableist removals from the /c/196 moderators, defense of chasers, no-quarter rules regarding our users, leakage of good-faith DMs from our admin team, and a general lack of initiative to punish these behaviors, we have come to the conclusion that the 196 community on lemmy.blahaj.zone has made the fediverse an unsafe space for our queer, disabled, neurodivergent, non-western, and other marginalized comrades on this forum, and we will be defederating from lemmy.blahaj.zone until we can be confident that this will not continue to be an issue.

We have attempted to make good-faith parley with both the instance admin and the comm moderators, but we've reached a point which we feel that until these behaviors are addressed by instance administration, we can no longer continue to federate in good-faith while our users are being actively invalidated by a small-but-vocal portion of the forum. Once we are confident that these behaviors have ceased and are unlikely to continue, we are more-than-happy to refederate in the name of queer solidarity.

Thanks for bearing with us :07:

The thing for me was they constantly took half-measures waltuh No bans were handed out. Only removals and 'scoldings'. That's what I mean by unaddressed behavior. That's what I mean by a general lack of initiative to punish these behaviors.

the thing that gets me is that it's a moderator defending transphobia and posting ableism. at a very minimum such mods need to be removed from positions of power or their code of conduct is a joke. scoldings don't even come close to adequate.

It's bad faith when mods who abuse power are kept in power.

It's bad faith when users accusing comrades of lying about their identity aren't banned.

You can have queer solidarity or you can enable shitlords. You can't have both. This response makes it clear what they have chosen.

On the hexbear side, the dunking thread that directly targeted me was up for over 24 hours despite hexbear having significantly more admins than Blahaj does.

A dunk thread on one hand, the overall impact isn't big- it's making fun of a specific opinion, post, whatever. I thought it was in bad taste, but at this point I've reconsidered.

A head mod using ableist insults to shut down someone complaining about ableist insults being commonplace? seems like it's indicating a significantly bigger problem, and this response doesn't seem like it's taking that seriously either.

not even going to get into the chaser shit, but jesus-christ

However, attempting to imply bad faith, disinterest and lack of co-operation with me feels like a bad faith accusation, given how willing I've been to work with you to try and make this work."

      lol lmao even

"work with you"? funny because it seems that you were doing anything but, no bans, no removals just some "thoughts and prayers stern words and this is unacceptable" whatever that even means.

What I'd like to see is for 196 to feck off to its own instance. I wanted to see this ever since 196 first discussed starting its own instance and relocating there.

As other people have noted, the vast majority of Blåhaj Lemmy's traffic is in 196, and this evidently gives 196 too much power over the rest of Blåhaj Lemmy. Replacing the 196 mod isn't enough; Blåhaj Lemmy just needs to kiss its main source of traffic goodbye entirely, if it wants to build an actual trans space, instead of a space for people to pretend to be allies.

made it clear to the mod that ableism isn't acceptable

sent a DM to the mod in question making it clear that this wasn't acceptable

Not good enough! The people demand blood bans! sicko-crowd
