Ban cars. They're a primary cause of the climate catastrophe and they're becoming more and more obviously unsustainable, unaffordable, unhealthy, unsafe, etc.
As an ultimate goal, I'd agree. But that's not something you can just do without incredible investment in alternate forms of transit, which is not happening. The road the US is going down, cars will not be banned, they'll just be unaffordable and only for the rich. We'll keep the shitty transit and jaywalking laws though.
What? And have the rich give up one of their weapons to control the poor?
Forcing them with this burden, requiring them to purchase useless insurance and have that vehicle set them back forty bucks every week? AND the debt to buy the vehicle themselves?
And now it makes sense why walkable cities have high rents, the rich want to force as many people as possible into being shackled to their vehicle…and told that’s freedom.
