    Honestly the kind of thing that should justify a lawsuit of some kind. At least the EU has the GPDR which would make that thing incredibly illegal.
    If you ask for my contact info and I ask what for and you say "so I can contact you" and you then use my contact info for something else (giving it to a third party) then I feel like something illegal has happened. At least when it's an institution - like a political campaign - that does it.

      yeah this is one of the few nice crumbs off the table we get in the EU. still get some spam texts when data breaches happen and stuff but it's illegal for any company to share or sell your number without your explicit permission
