It's a solid execution of the standard sports anime formula:

      • fun and likeable characters with enjoyable dynamics both inside and outside the team
      • hype matches with great animation
      • plot is quite satisfying as you watch the characters grow/improve and see the payoff of their hard work during tournament matches against increasingly tougher opponents
      • there's a bit of the typical drama for character development/team bonding which I'm not really a fan of but they luckily don't go overboard with it like some other shows do

If you haven't seen a sports anime before, Haikyuu would be an excellent starting point even if you aren't into volleyball.

Personally, having seen a ton of this kind of stuff, the formula has gotten a bit stale for me at this point and with the last couple of seasons, matches aren't quite as hype as they were in the first few seasons. With the first episode of the latest season, the pacing felt noticeably off because of how every time something happens, they switch over to focus on other people's reactions/commentary for way too long.

Eh. Golden Kamuy > Haikyuu imo at least if we're talking about the currently airing seasons
