Also to avoid hurting the feelings of the French, they brought in white people instead for parades dressed as French troops rather than the African troops who saved them.

And as a side note, Africa's reward for being instrumental in France's liberation was having the French overthrow many, many of their leaders.

I'm beginning to realize i really don't want to learn as much about Western history any more. Stalin shouldn't have stopped at Berlin.

I just don't understand why France was allowed to have its african colonies/neocolonies back after WWII instead of yanks simply taking over the reins. Lack of francophone CIA maggots?

france gets some occasional good press for pushing back on the us but people tend to overlook that it's usually in service of being euro disney, not any kind of anti imperialism

I can’t entirely remember but I think also there was this historical narrative about French African soldiers doing war crimes and SA in Europe during WW2, but it was actually something more commonly attributed to the Pied Noirs who came across in WW2, white French settlers born in Algeria who fought for France in the civil war after WW2. So basically projection.

The nazis made great use of the "black french soliders doing a SA crime spree in the Rhineland" during the 20s - A high-ranking member of the british government even supported this lol
