        Was that during the period when the praetorian guard murdered an emperor and auctioned off the position to the highest bidder? Because I think that's already on its way regardless.

        We haven't even had our "Caesar" yet though to destroy the flailing republic. Trump is too disliked by normies (so far) to be Caesar. Institutionalists hate him, but he needs to pull in the "everyday angry guy" support, then he can do the cliche thing right wingers and libs both all say constantly ("cross the Rubicon"). (Also, I don't believe Trump will ever be this type of figure)

          1. Biden is 46th president, but resigns on January 20th.
          2. This is just in time for Kamala to take the oath and be president for 5 minutes.
          3. Trump takes office as regularly scheduled but a new wave of corona-whitehouse actually takes him out this time.
          4. Vance, while extremely unlikable, pushes through Elon as his VP (SCOTUS reinterprets the meaning of "natural born" in a landmark 6-3 ruling), but it doesn't save him from assassination as QAnon blames him for Trump's death.
          5. Elon becomes the 50th president (although he decides to rename the position to Bazinga King) sometime in 2025...
