I've been thinking about historical parallels for a while now. Granted it was rooted in vendetta and other malarkey ( ) but they did put Howard Hughes on the stand because of the Spruce Goose.
How many times did something happen to the contractors during the "war on terror"?
The grifts are stacked on grifts these days. Grifts all the way down. Is it different? Yes and no. Is it worse? Yes and no. Is it still a bunch of wasted time, effort, material, resources, etc on the eve of impending environmental disaster covered by the giant criminal blanket of illegal war? Yes.
It's a real kinda experience to ponder these things.
