I've lurked since the early days but I'm tryna be more social so I'll give this a go.
I'm a big music head: house, techno, club, emo, shoegaze, and ambient are usually where I reside genre-wise. I'm currently doing cringe exposure therapy aka learning to DJ.
I'm something of a gardener. Growing food is cool but lately I've been getting more into native plants and permaculture.
I'm trying to get a reading habit going too for philosophy, theology, and history. Of course I'm a leftist but I would like to be much better read on theory especially in the Black radical tradition.
Also kind of a Weird Shit lover so anything conspiracy/paranormal gets my attention. I'd call it a guilty pleasure but the mainstreaming of conspiracy culture has been fascinating and seems to be key to understanding the political moment we're in.
I'm a programmer so that's also fun (sometimes).
That's it, I guess. Thanks for reading!
Care for a recommendation? I like the podcast Otherworld. It's pretty fun and the host approaches the guests in a very open-minded way that's really engaging. Also he's at least comrade-adjacent, given that I first learned of this podcast when he was a guest on TrueAnon.
I was just thinking that I need to get some new podcasts in my rotation. Otherworld looks great, thanks!
Always good to hear. I was a casual listener to a fairly popular paranormal podcast that turned out to have awful right wing hosts. Not uncommon for this space, unfortunately.
I know, it's hard to find this left-adjacent conspiracy/paranormal stuff aside from the major podcasts we're all familiar with. I said I first heard him on Trueanon, but I'm actually fairly certain it was on Rev Left, which is even better in my book. I just can't seem to figure out what episode it was.
Otherworld is very fun, some episodes are really goddamn scary, some kinda boring, and sometimes it stretches believability, but I think anyone who enjoys paranormal stuff is already ready and willing to suspend disbelief a little bit.
