Showcan't just stop thinking about the 4-5 hitlers guy
ShowIn an attempt at damage control, the administration of President Johnson denied to the American media that Kỳ had made the remark, claiming it was a fabrication by Moynahan, only to have the air marshal defiantly repeat the statement that Hitler was his only hero.[8
Freeland is on glue if she thinks she has a salvageable career in Canadian politics. She either has some of the worst political instincts on her own, or she is getting advice directly from .
It took me a second reading that title before I realized you were not referring to our boy on the left here
Just last week, at an event celebrating women in politics, Trudeau said he's a "proud feminist" and cited his appointment of Canada's first female finance minister.
"I've touted the adage, 'add women, change politics,' which to us is more than just words," he said.
Two days later, Trudeau would ask Freeland to leave that post, effectively pushing out the most senior woman in government.
the idea that turfing her is an issue of sexism is so silly. the LPC is deeply unpopular, trudeau is currently pushing some particularly idiotic vote buying schemes with small cheques and GST holiday, it would help him politically to show major shakeup at the cabinet level, and it helps her politically to not go down quietly and instead try to leave a sinking ship. this isn't rocket science.
in any case, she's not some breath of fresh air. the LPC brand is toast in a way that will only be healed by several years in the wilderness under CPC rule. the idea that she thinks she can distance herself at this point is pretty delusional. people might say that it's sexism that mark carney is more likely to be the next LPC leader than freeland, but that's just missing the forest for the trees. carney hasn't spent the last 9 years rolling around in the LPC mud pit getting all that trudeau stink on him. freeland has, and has been particularly vocal on two files that are not popular with canadians - the terrible canadian economy, and losing the war in ukraine. I can certainly see her winning her seat again as she won by a 30ish points in the last two elections, but I doubt she'll be elected LPC leader unless liberal voters really want to see 8 years of CPC at the helm.
My money is on her setting herself up for the leadership role. The current PM wouldn't let her run for leadership under the party and now everyone is going against him.
