    Mood, this is why Data is one of the characters of all time. (Admittedly most of my TNG exposure is from overhearing my old roommate watching it while I was cooking but that much was very apparent.)

    I'd add aliens to the list — just started watching Invader Zim since it's one of my wife's favorite and I love how autistic-coded that funky little evil alien is.

    And people getting zapped to an alternate dimension or falling "down the rabbit hole" so to speak. Amphibia, Gregor the Overlander, Alice in Wonderland, etc. A character who's only one who doesn't understand "common knowledge" and needs to figure it all out really hits.

    In a similar vein, I find a lot of stories about immigrants really resonate with me too.
