In the old catch a predator TV show they set up stings with an ostensible underage person who was of age and those people got sent away for serious crimes even though the actor was of age. Isn't it the same as this?
That was for profit though, so it's cool and good. This is just being mean to an old white dude, so mega illegal. You are going to jail for being dumb enough to conflate those two things.
That's pretty much how all online predator police stings work. Some cop in Texas will message you pretending to be a fourteen year old girl and if you solicit "her" for sex you're under arrest.
