If you want to make music, and you are trans and/or gender-diverse, this comm is for you!
Make sure to take a look at the rules on the sidebar, and let me know if there's anything else that should be mentioned!
Happy Posting
Yo, thanks so much for making this comm a thing, I'm really happy that it's already taken off! If you didn't see my post in c/commrequest, I wanted this to be a thing because I made a Trans Synths starter pack and feed on Bluesky and wanted to have that community be multi-platform for those who no longer feel safe on Bluesky with their recent bs. So there may be some folks that come over here from Bluesky now that they know this is a thing.
If you haven't seen the video by Red Means Recording from last year "Your Synthesizer is Trans (and Other Stories)" I highly recommend. Was the inspiration for making this community a thing.

I'm glad you're happy, and I'm glad I could, at least in part, work to provide a safe place for other trans people 🙂

cool comm! I super recommend omfg_astrid my current favorite trans musician.
Can't wait to hear what beautiful sounds y'all make!
Wow, a comm just for me? This has to be the day I start posting
I've been working on a pretty elaborate (for me anyway) project/album for the past over a decade. The finish line is almost in sight now and I hope that having music peeps to chat with will make it easier and more exciting to work on music! I struggle to find time for it in between all the being disabled
inb4
Hope I don't jinx myself and don't finish the album for another few years lol
its happened before

I know there's enough of a scene in ABQ that they've had multi artist nights at venues with 100% trans rappers. Sadly my friend in that city has deleted me from their life. But just saying that might be a place to start looking for names to search up.
Other than that, there's no way I'm sharing mine until I re-find my voice. If I even try to spit again. Maybe it's time to expand my genre boundaries. Or at least figure out how to use my synths' modulators to fux with it enough that I don't die of cringe and shame when I listen back to it lmao.
Reaper is so good. I’m still holding out hope that Justin Frankel will open source it once he finally gets tired of maintaining it.
O lawd don't make me get back on my bullshit. I have been putting off re-cabling my whole fuckin studio since I moved. So. Much. MIDI.
I have had a continual nagging feeling that it's time to get back to making beats n shit. This further pushes the desire.
now if only you could have audio only embeds so I didn't have to link vocaroo or something every time I wanted to share my WIPs
This would be awesome but I hope it wouldn't be abused. Also I didn't know you did music! You're talented in so many different ways!
Wendy Carlos is now 85, pioneer of synths, microtonality and also trans. Thanks for creating this comm.

She was talking about her continuing to closet herself and release music under her dead name after she’d undergone sex reassignment for fear of public backlash. She said of that closeted period, “It had proven a monstrous waste of years of my life." And like… mood.
This is the exact comm for me!
I'm super excited about this! It'll help me not procrastinate as much on my projects too. I'll fire up the DAW tonight!
Would this be the right comm to ask about setting up for simple recording at home? I can do the physical stuff but the software stuff is really confusing, as are ADCs and getting input to the computer. Somehow Jack is involved, but last time i tried to set it up i broke pulse somehow. I want to try again come the new year tho
I might be able to give you a hand. Pipewire makes everything way simpler and easier nowadays.
I want to try again come the new year tho
Might be good timing for me too. I have a bitwig license and a lot of hardware, and an intention to keep my production on linux. Perhaps we will figure it all out together.
