    plastic recycling is more or less fake. I've been banging this drum for a good while and they've started admitting it more recently in lib media.

      Many plastics (thermoplastics) would actually be recyclable, if they didn't put so many additives in, like for UV resistance. But then the color would get a slightly yellow tint after some years of exposure to sunlight. And who would want that? /s

        Also most plastics are part of compound objects, either mixed with other plastics or with metal and wood and glass. It is increasingly implausible to disassemble things to extract the tiny plastic parts they may comprise.
