    Counterpoint: PUA materials helped me get over crippling shyness (that was making me push away even girls who were blatantly showing interest in me) and become fun and charming on dates. It's not magic and anyone saying "if you follow instructions 1 to 10 you'll fuck any girl you want" is a scammer but in particularly hopeless cases it can provide a sort of scaffolding for getting used to being daring and sociable. At the end of the day it's mostly about the so-called "inner game" than any kind of manipulation of others.

      Some people might get something out of it. However, these people would probably have benefited from something less toxic as well.

      PUA has a lot of draw from insecure people. For one, they are assured that it's not ones personality that might be the problem. The women are wrong (Skinner style). Secondly, PUA make some assumptions about the world that seem nice if you don't think critically. After all, wolves have alphas... (Nooot) . Thirdly, toxic masculinity brings a lot of problems for men looking for a partner. PUA pretend to have the answer to this but are actually doing the exact same opposite.

      Tldr: Misogyny is shit for boys with an inferiority complex. But perpetuated by western culture, so people easily fall for it.
