I stand corrected, you are right. It's such a novel and risky idea. No-one's ever used gold and silver as currencies before. Not like good old reliable cryptocoins, which have been a part of human culture for thousands of years.
I read in a David Graeber book that some Indigenous American groups would hold certain dances sacred, and the right to perform them was restricted to only the holder of those rights or their family. These rights could be traded or also passed on hereditarily.
