I'm honestly in awe of the fact that the USSR went from a technologically primitive feudal backwater, one of the poorest countries on Earth, where the vast majority of the population was illiterate, to putting the first human being into space in like 40 years. It struck me on an acid trip how incredibly profound it was that this was accomplished by the first ever worker's state.
And imagine what they could have accomplished without the imperialists getting in the way.
