China has a history of draconian policies that especially in relation to what us as leftists believe in (drug legalization, guns, etc)
Especially with very recent events as well as past ones, including ethnic cleansing (Uyghurs), mass surveillance and censorship, etc, they would and are opposed to radical leftist views.
Oh also dont forget that lgbt rights are practically non existant there either and are heavily discriminated against if outed, amongst many other things

Does it matter if it's good or not? It's happening whether you like it or not, whether it's good or not. And what are you comparing it to? The US? Europe? You get how that's ignorant, right? You grow up in one culture, you're going to view it as the default. If you're not completely miserable, you'll even prefer that culture over others. That doesn't actually say anything about other cultures. There's tons of people in China who view their culture as good as well. It's not really useful, to a point, to get too much into which is good or not. If China offers a comparable way of life where the average Westerner sees a continuity in lifestyle, it's not going to matter.
